MRS Instructor Compete with our packraft Orca at the 2024 China Nujiang Wild Water Kayaking Open Tournament

On December 20, 2024, the “China Communications Construction Cup” 2024 China Nujiang Wild Water Kayaking Open Tournament officially kicked off in Lushui, Nujiang, Yunnan, attracting over 110 athletes from 15 countries around the world.

The event brought together top kayaking athletes, challenging them to tackle the extreme waters of the Nujiang River. Known as the “White Water Paradise” ,Nujiang offers an ideal environment for kayaking enthusiasts, with its perfect blend of temperature and challenging rapids. The competition featured both professional and amateur categories, including men’s, women’s, and mixed events for both single and four-person inflatable kayak races.

Ahead of the competition, MRS partnered with ACA Level 4 Whitewater Kayak instructors trainer in China to organize the country’s first ACA Level 4 packraft instructor training. This initiative helped ensure participants were thoroughly prepared for the event.

At this year’s competition, three instructors from MRS Packrafting Academy participated. Ziyang and Yuan Xiaojin made their debut in the race, using the MRS Orca packraft. In the men’s single kayak events, they achieved remarkable results, securing second and fifth places in the long-distance, short-distance, and Tiger Jump Challenge races, respectively.

Now in its eighth year, the Nujiang Wild Water Kayak Race has steadily grown into a regional international event. MRS will continue to support this competition, offering more opportunities for packrafting enthusiasts to enhance their skills and knowledge through packraft instructor training and educational programs.
