Bring The Flagship Species of Mount Siguniang to the Classroom | MRS Nature Protection

In the vast forests of Mount Siguniang, an exciting journey to explore flagship species has began since 2022. I vividly recall the first expedition, when a snow leopard was unexpectedly captured on camera, instantly filling the entire team with joy. Their appearance felt like a precious gift from nature, allowing us to truly experience the magic and richness of this land.

In 2023, the Mount Siguniang flagship species exploration continued without pause. MRS, alongside the scientific research team, once again ventured into the deep mountains, planting more “eyes” in nature, hoping to capture traces of even more mysterious creatures.

In early summer 2024, the research team returned to the biodiversity observation base with great anticipation, bringing back fresh and vibrant stories of life. As the expedition progressed, Wang Dongrui, a biodiversity protection engineer at the Sichuan Provincial Academy of Environmental Sciences, continued his special “journey”—visiting primary schools to share his “Exploration of Biodiversity” with students.

In November 2024, the Sichuan Provincial Environmental Education and Communication Center hosted the “Environmental Education Courses in Schools” event. Engineer Wang Dongrui once again entered the classroom, offering a unique and engaging lesson to over 200 teachers and students.

In the classroom, Wang Dongrui vividly shared his fieldwork experiences in areas like Changping Valley on Mount Siguniang. The precious footage brought the students face to face with protected species such as snow leopards and green-tailed pheasants playing freely in the wild, sparking waves of astonishment and excitement among them.

“To conduct species surveys, you have to start by becoming a ‘poop scientist’!” Wang Dongrui’s candid and humorous remark immediately caught the students’ attention. He explained how examining the size, color, and smell of animal feces can help identify different species. The students found this both fascinating and fun. Wang Dongrui then continued to provide an engaging explanation of topics such as ecosystem diversity, umbrella species, poaching, its impacts, and how young people can contribute to protecting biodiversity. During the Q&A session, the students eagerly asked questions, and the classroom atmosphere was lively and dynamic. Many students expressed how much they had learned from the lesson and gained a deeper understanding of the importance of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

Since the end of 2024, Wang Dongrui has brought the flagship species of Mount Siguniang into classrooms on multiple occasions. As an active participant in the scientific research efforts, MRS understands the crucial role of environmental protection in safeguarding biodiversity. The company is committed to exploring how to closely integrate sustainable practices with its products, working to harmonize the relationship between humans and nature. This is the profound meaning behind “MRS Nature. Protection“

In the coming year, the Mount Siguniang flagship species exploration program will continue. With everyone’s combined efforts, the biodiversity of Mount Siguniang will be better protected, ensuring that the beauty of nature is preserved for generations to come!
